Chapter Ⅱ　Etiology and Occurrence of Warm Disease

Section 1　Primary Pathogenic Mechanism of Warm Disease

Warm disease can be thought of a body’s reaction due to struggle between the vital Qi and warm pathogen. in general, the body’s vital Qi plays a leading role, and invasion of the warm pathogen is a prerequisite for occurrence of the warm disease, but warm pathogen can also play a decisive role under a special situation, namely pestilence. Furthermore, the onset, development and final outcome of a warm disease depend upon the relative strength of patient’s vital Qi and the warm pathogen, e.g., it occurs and deteriorates when the warm pathogen overcomes the vital Qi, and it gets better and recovers while the vital Qi overcomes the warm pathogen.
