Architecture

The following diagram we see is that there are three layers of defense and each layer serves a specific purpose in the overall security:

• The first layer is Firewall filters based on IP addresses and ports
• The second layer is IPS that filters based on known signatures to prevent exploits
• The third layer is WAF that is specifically designed to mitigate HTTP application attacks
