Signing a Contract
Lawyer: I made a very close study of the draft contract last night. Client: Any questions?
Lawyer: Yes. There are a few points which I'd like to bring up. First, the packing, it's stipulated in the contract that all the machine parts should be packed in wooden cases. This can be done with the machine parts, but it's impossible to pack a truck base like that.
Client: I see.
Lawyer: Second, about the terms of payment. Our draft contract says that payment is to be made by D/P. This is not our practice. They prefer to have the payment made by L/C through a negotiating bank in France.
Client: And...
Lawyer: And the third point is about arbitration. It's stipulated that arbitration shall take place in China. In all our past contracts signed with them, it was stipulated that arbitration took place in a third country.
Client: Yes, that's right.

联邦现金储备

联邦储备系统控管了十二个区域性的联邦银行（Federal banks），每一个银行都具有储备现金和证券（securities）的功能。至于其他规模较小的银行，不管是否为储备系统的成员，也都可以跟联邦存款保险公司（Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, FDIC）投保，以保证他们自身的安全性。即使现在人们与银行的往来交易大部分都已经电子化（electronically），联邦储备系统还是在继续执行它的任务，目的是要向大众担保他们的钱存在安全的地方。
