3.4　Reactive Power Compensation

3.4.1　The type and capacity of reactive power compensation installations of a substation shall be determined based on the distribution and magnitude of reactive power.The range and frequency of reactive power fluctuation，the harmonic current introduced by users and the background harmonics of the grid to which the substation is connected shall be given an overall consideration in the design of power supply and distribution system.

3.4.2　The reactive compensation installations shall be designed according to the current national standard GB 50227"Code for Design of Installation of Shunt Capacitors".

3.4.3　The substation shall be provided with shunt capacitors.AC harmonic filters or static var compensation installations that can automatically and rapidly adjust compensation capacity according to the fluctuation of reactive power shall be installed where necessary.
