［含义］温和派和强硬派

［趣释］【物象喻指】在西方的文化中，鸽子（dove）象征和平与安宁，老鹰（hawk）寓意威权和武力。从20世纪60年代起，报刊频频出现鸽派与鹰派的字眼。用“鸽子”（doves）来喻指资本主义国家政府机构就某一政策，特别是和平与战争问题上主张采取温和路线的一派，即所谓的“鸽派”；用“老鹰”（hawks）来喻指主张采取强硬路线的一派，即所谓的“鹰派”。因此，“鸽子和老鹰”（doves and hawks）就是“鸽派与鹰派”，喻指温和派和强硬派。
